Hello! My name is Hyun-Joo, and I am a Korean adoptee from the East Coast. I warmly welcome you to my website. Feel free to explore, read my works, learn more about me, and reach out with any questions, feedback, or collaboration ideas. Also, don't forget to check out my shop—which includes clothing and accessories featuring some of my favorite lines from my poetry.
I am excited to announce that I have begun a new book project entitled:
머리를 땋으며 – While Braiding Hair
While Braiding of Hair weaves together three lives through a journey back to Korea shaped by memory, reunion and the layered flavors of discovery. The book explores how both choice and chance shape women’s lives across generations, especially when stories are hidden, interrupted or carried silently.
As I reconnect with my birth family, I have begun to understand the unexpected ways our lives have unconsciously bent around one another. Our braid is not always clean or symmetrical—sometimes it knots or frays—but it binds us, irrevocably.
This project is as much about the histories we inherit as the ones we choose to carry forward.
